SPECIALIZED OVERNIGHT CAMPS for 2025

These providers focus primarily on serving people with disabilities. Staff ratio and services vary by camp so talk to the provider to discuss your support needs. 

Camp Barnabas, Specialized Youth and Adult Overnight Camp,Purdy, MO near Springfield, MO (map). Weeks are available for ages 7-adult from June 1-August 8, 2025. Cost $1,500 per week, Scholarships available through camp office. Disabilities are grouped by week with sibling weeks available. Volunteers age 13 and older are needed to be camp assistants. Sunnyhill Adventures, Specialized Adult Overnight Camp, – Dittmer, MO (map). Eight adult weeks from June 15-August 15, 2025; One youth week July 13-18, 2025. Cost: $1,300 per week, Registration opens January 15 – Early Bird discount of $200 if registered by March 31, 2025. Sunnyhill Adventures offers a combination of high-rope challenges, fishing, archery, and other activities the outdoor for the enthusiast with the comforts of air conditioned cabins and a warm bed. Wonderland Summer Camp, Specialized Youth and Adult Overnight Camp, Rocky Mount, MO near Lake of the Ozarks (map). 11 weeks available for ages 6-adult from May 18-August 1, 2025. Cost: $1,050 per week with option to bring your own care giver for additional cost of $100. Wonderland Camp has given children, teenagers and adults with disabilities the opportunity to come to camp for the friendships, the encouragement and the high-fives. All activities are adapted so that everyone can participate. Registration for camp opens on February 3, 2025.

Wonderland Fall & Winter Weekend Camps, Specialized Youth and Adult Weekends, Rocky Mount, MO – Reserved for individuals with disabilities and some include families. Various weekends from August 26-November 9, 2025. Cost: $400 per camper for individual weekend camps. Family Camp is $300 for the camper and parent(s) plus $50 for each additional child. Life Skills camp is $525 per camper. Community Camps open to those without disabilities include Father-Son Camp on August 8-10, 2025 and Mama is a Happy Camper October 3-5, 2025 – cost for these 2 camps is TBD. UMSL Succeed Summer Enrichment Program, Specialized Overnight Young Adult Challenge, St. Louis, MO – for youth entering college, ages 17-22. Dates: June 9-13, 2025 & July 14-18, 2025. Cost: $600. Come live in the UMSL residence hall all week, participate in academic workshops and vocational training, enjoy recreation & traditional camp activities, and learn about living independently. Camp Roehr, Specialized Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Potosi, MO – for youth ages 6-17 with Epilepsy. June 7-13 2025. Cost: $500 with scholarships available. Camp Roehr is a seven-day residential is a week at YMCA Camp Lakewood in Potosi, MO and is sponsored by the Southern Illinois Epilepsy Foundation. Camp Roehr provides young people with epilepsy a variety of opportunities to focus on their strengths and have fun in a safe, supportive environment. Camper 2025 Application

Camp Encourage , Specialized Youth Overnight Mini-camp, Heartland Retreat Center in Parkville, MO near Kansas City, MO (map). Camp for ages 10-18 who are on the Autism Spectrum and are active and independent. One day overnights: March 23-23, 2025 & Sept 6-7, 2025 at a cost of $595. Camp Courage, MOSpecialized Adult Mini Camp, Stewartsville, near Kansas City, MO – June 19-22, 2025. Cost: $250. Camp Courage is a 4-day/3-night, all-inclusive summer camping program for adults with special needs, including Down syndrome, birth defects, cognitive delays and high functioning Autism. Campers enjoy fishing, dancing, crafts, bingo, and more. 

Camp MITIOG, Specialized Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Excelsior Springs, near Kansas City, MO – July 14-19, 2025. Contact the camp for pricing. Camp MITIOG is a week-long camp for children ages 8-16 living with spina bifida. Children participate in camping activities including swimming, fishing, canoeing, arts and crafts, nature classes, classes on self-help medical care and evening campfires. Camp MITIOG is held at Lake Doniphan Conference and Retreat Center which is located in Excelsior Springs, Missouri and provides a wheelchair accessible environment.

Camp No Limits, Specialized Overnight Family Camp, Lake Forest, ILL – June 19-22, 2025. Cost: $500 per person. Camp No Limits was developed to address the needs of children with limb loss/limb difference and their families and provide an opportunity to meet other families. Camp No Limits runs camps more camp weeks in various states.

Camp Rainbow for St. Louis Children’s Hospital Patients with Cancer and Blood Disorders, Specialized Overnight Youth, Teen, and Family Mini-Camp, held at Sunnyhill Adventures in Dittmer, MO –  for youth. We give children dealing with a pediatric cancer or blood-related diseases and their families time to have a fun while interacting with others in treatment. Your child must either be diagnosed with a cancer or blood-related disease and be treated by one of the St. Louis Children’s Hospitals OR be a sibling of a child diagnosed with a cancer or blood-related disease and treated by one of the St. Louis Children’s Hospitals. Teen Camps for ages 14-18: Teen SIBS Camp June 1 – June 4, 2025, Teen Oncology Overnight Camp June 8 – June 11, 2025, Teen Family Camp August 29 – September 1, 2025. Camp Wartburg Shepherding Sheep Camp, Specialized Youth and Adult Overnight Camp, Waterloo, ILL – a Mini Camp for ages 10-65+, June 1-5, 2025. Cost: $800. The Shepherding Sheep Program at Camp Wartburg is an experience designed to get children and adults with disabilities outdoors and in an environment of interaction with others. Camp Hickory Hill, Specialized Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Columbia, MO – for ages 7-17 with diabetes. June 22-28 for ages 13-17; June 29-July 5 for ages 7-12. Cost: Sliding scale fee from $400-$1,200 depending on family income. Camp Hickory Hill sustains a community, culture and medically-sound program of support for chilcren with diabetes, using our camp environment to foster education, selfreliance, confidence, an active lifestyle and skill in the successful management of diabetes. 

Heartland Camp, Specialized Adult Overnight Mini Camp, Kansas City, MO – Friendship Camp for Adults With Disabilities, August 5-August 8, 2025, Cost: $650. Christian Camp where campers participate in daily activities including Bible study, worship, swimming, crafts, games, carnival, dance party, and a final talent show to end the week.

Special Olympics Summer Camps, Specialized Youth and Adult Overnight Camp, Jefferson City, MO – for all ages. The Gary Brimer Summer Sports Camp is for athletes of Special Olympics to experience high intensity activities including sports, fishing, art, nature, health, and more. Summer 2025 dates TBD – Cost: $300 with scholarships available. Camp MoVal, Specialized Overnight Retreat Camp for Adults, Union, MO – Adventures in the Community for ages 18 and older, August 4-9, 2024 ~ Cost:  $599.  We have a beautiful lake, an archery range, plenty of hiking, and cabin camping. Special needs campers must be able to negotiate camp environment with little or no supervision. Family Camp – June 30-July 4, 2024; Cost: $199 person. Enjoy a self-directed 3-day getaway to enjoy the beauty of nature and take part in some of our activities such as canoeing, campfires, and more. DASA Camp WeCanDu, Specialized Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Babler State Park, St. Louis, MO – June 16-21, 2024, Cost: TBD but expect $350-$400. Disabled Athlete Sports Association (DASA) Camp WeCanDu provides children living with cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, visual impairments, and many other forms of physical disabilities come together at camp to create a fun and engaging social support system and discover natural abilities that stay with them for a lifetime.

 

Camp Guardian, Specialized Youth and Adult Overnight Camp Babler State Park in St. Louis, MO, for all ages. June 24-28, 2024, Cost: FREE due to generous donations. We provide a FREE week of summer overnight camp for individuals of all ages with special needs; Missouri National Guard citizen-soldiers, airmen and retirees, and family members of military. Community Overnight Camps 2025

These programs serve primarily children without disabilities. Services vary by location so talk with the camp about your child’s support needs to ensure they are able to accommodate. 

Cub Creek Science Camp, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight, Rolla, MO – for ages 7-17, weekly from June 1-August 9, 2025 ~ $1,350 per week. With more than 300 animals and over 100 species, our overnight summer camp is an animal lover’s paradise. We offer animal camp, science camp, adventure camp, vet camp, nature camp, and traditional summer camp activities such as swimming, fishing, hiking, arts and crafts, and ropes course. Campers experience our amazing animal farm and adopt a friend for the week. The first and last week are prorated. See website for details. 

YMCA Camp Lakewood, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight,  Potosi, MO – for youth ages 8-16. Weeklong Camp Weeks from June 8-August 1, 2025. Cost: Main Camp for ages 8-12 is $980-$1,180; East Camp for ages 13-16 is $775-$995; Additional fees added for specialty topic camps. Mini Camp June 15-18, 2025, June 29-July 2, 2025, and August 3-8, 2025 for $590. Camp Wartburg, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight, Waterloo, IL – for youth in grades 1-9 with leadership camps for high school youth. Cost: $800 depending on camp selected. Camp Manitowa,Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Benton, ILL, camp for youth in 2nd-10th grades – Trips for high school youth in grades 9, 10, & 11. One, two, and three-week sessions available from June 22-August 2, 2025; Cost: $1,400-$3,495 depending on camp selected. Our small property is ideal for helping kids feel safe and comfortable. We serve 80-125 campers each session which allows kids to make friends quickly and become an important person in our overall camp family. 

Sherwood Forest, Traditional Youth and Teen Multi-Week Overnight Camp, Lesterville, MO – for youth grades 1-9. Mini Camp (1st and 2nd Graders): June 10-16, 2025, Cost: $35; Explorer Camp (3rd – 5th Graders), June 19-July 2, 2025, Cost: $50; Leadership Camp (6th – 9th Graders), July 8-August 4, 2025, Cost: $75. Sherwood Forest Quest Program serves children from low-income households and underserved communities in Missouri and Illinois, who live at or below the federal poverty line. It is also a requirement that campers themselves have a strong interest in going to camp and campers MUST commit to staying entire camp.

Camp Sabra, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight Camp, Lake Ozark, MO – for youth entering 3rd-10th grades. One, two, and four-week sessions from June 8-July 31, 2025. Cost: $1,519-$6,850 depending on week selected. Camp Sabra is a premier Missouri Jewish camp that fosters life-long friendships, Jewish identity, and encourages social and physical growth.

Girl Scout Camp, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight and Day Camps for girls in grades 1-12; Leadership program for ages 14 and older. Scouts BSA, Traditional Youth and Teen Overnight Camps for ages 6-20. Cost: $200-$425 with early bird discounts; Camp weeks in June and July, 2025. Locations at Scout owned camps in Missouri and Illinois. Scouting offers overnight camps for boys and girls ages 6-20. In addition to traditional summer camps, Scouts BSA offers specialty camps in STEM, High Adventure, Horsemanship, Eagle Award Camps, and more. Variety’s 2024 Adventure Day Camp, FREE Specialized Day Camp for ages 4-20. St. Louis, MO – Registration for Summer Camp 2025 Opens January 13, 2025. Campers are allowed to attend camp for ONE week only. Six camp weeks from June 2-July 18, 2025. At camp, Variety Kids are empowered to form new friendships, try new things, grow in self-esteem, and explore the world around them with independence and confidence. Each camper is paired with a counselor “buddy” to ensure their needs are met each day.  The location of Camp changes each day to accommodate different activities and adventures, all within the St. Louis region. Harbor Unlimited Camp Lighthouse Family Retreat Day Camp, Specialized Family Day Camp, Wright City, MO – May 24-27, 2024 at StrongTower Ranch, 63390. Cost: $175 for camper with a disability and a sliding scale fee for each family member or caregiver attending to support the camper. Our family special needs disability summer day camp features parent events, sibling events, group games, enrichment activities, bonfire, water activities, worship, crafts, horsemanship, and a chance to try adapted water skiing on Friday at Lake St. Louis, MO. 

The J: Jewish Community Center, Traditional Day Camp with Services for Disabilities, Creve Coeur and Chesterfield – Youth in grades K-7, weeks from June 2-August 1, 2025. Cost: $330-$355 per week. Locations: Creve Coeur and Chesterfield. Every youth is welcome at the J and our camps feature the activities kids love most like swimming, sports, gymnastics and arts. Exceptional Equestrian, Specialized Youth Horse Camp, Washington, MO – Youth ages 6-15, Saddle UP Camp for new riders is June 2-6 & June 16-20, 2025; Giddy UP camp is for experienced riders, June 9-13 and June 23-27, 2025. Cost: $350 per week. Full days from 9:00 am-3:00 pm Mon-Fri. Our summer programs offer a variety of activities and learning experiences with horses and horseback riding.

LifeBridge Partnership, Specialized Day Camp for ages 8-20, St. Louis County and St. Charles – 2025 Dates: TBD, Cost $150 per week. Our camps provide youth with disabilities who are age 8-18 (up to 21 if still in school) opportunities to participate in a variety of activities, field trips, and fun. iCan Bike Camp, Specialized Learn to Bike Day Camp: No Locations for 2025 in Missouri. WE NEED AN ORGANIZATION TO BRING CAMP TO ST. LOUIS IN 2025: Can you be an iCan Bike Host? iCan Bike programs are for people with disabilities ages eight and up who want to learn to ride a 2-wheel bike. The vast majority of people with disabilities never have the experience of independently riding a conventional two-wheel bicycle during their lifetime. Defying these odds is why we exist.

Camp Ausome – St. Louis, MO:Specialized Youth Day Camp for children with autism ages 6-11. The Freddie Ford Foundation sponsors this week designed specifically to meet individual needs of the campers with staff who understand autism. We can providing care on a 1:1 basis as needed. Camp includes sports, activities, games and crafts for children of all abilities. 2024 Camp Information

Lydia Cox Bike Camp – Chesterfield, MO: Specialized Biking Program June 16-21, 2024 at Epic Empowerment Campus, 17795 Wild Horse Creek Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63005, Chesterfield, MO. This 5-day program teaches youth how to ride a standard bicycle through a process of graduated steps toward independent riding. 80% of participants ride a 2-wheeled bicycle by the end of the week. The rest gain immeasurable confidence and skills toward riding independently.  Participants must be age 8 or older, attend all 5 days, be under 220 lbs, and be able to walk and sidestep without assistive devices. Session #1: 8:00 am – 9:15 am Session #2:  9:35 am – 10:50 am Session #3:  11:10 pm – 12:25 pm Session #4:  1:30 pm – 2:45 pm Session #5:  3:05 pm – 4:20 pm. Cost $150 per rider. CAMP LITTLE GIANT 2024, Carbondale, IL: Specialized Youth Day Camp & Adult Day Retreat for ages 10-adult, located at SIUE Touch of Nature Center in Edwardsville, Illinois. In past years, Little Giant has offered overnight programs, but for 2024, we are ONLY offering DAY programs with a camper/staff small group ratio of 4:1. LILY PADS, ages 10-17: June 10-14, July 7-10, 2024 ~ $750, Camp is tailored to the special needs of children who struggle in social spheres or need a little more attention than a traditional camp may offer. ADULT RETREAT, ages 18 & older ~ $750, June 17-21, July 15-19, July 22-26, 2024 an exhilarating summer session crafted for adults with disabilities seeking the thrill of adventure and the serenity of nature exploration. DYNA CAMP, ages 10-17, June 24-28, 2024 ~ $750 for youth with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and attention deficit disorder (ADD). We focus on providing a positive experience with consistency and successes for each camper.

Starkloff Dream Big Spring Events and Summer Career Camp – St. Louis, MO: Specialized Youth Day Camp for youth ages 11-21 who want to learn more about career options in a fun camp environment. Miriam Learning Center Academic Support Camps, Specialized Academic Youth Day Camp for youth in grades K-12. Our academic and therapeutic summer camps provide individualized instruction, research-based interventions, and certified/licensed, professionals will ensure your child builds confidence and skills in reading, writing, speech or social/emotional development. Cost: $1,120 to $2,100 per session.

STAGES St. Louis Performing Arts Academy: Specialized Tween & Adult Theater Camp, Access the Arts, Inclusive Special Needs Day Camp for age 12 and older. Dates: Mon-Fri, June 17-28, 2024 from 1-4pm, Cost: $275. Summer Production: This 2-week, half day camp is designed for youth living with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities to perform a fully staged musical theatre production. In just two weeks, campers will work together to learn songs, scenes, and choreography from a musical while enjoying daily activities like acting games and group outings to improve confidence and assist in developing social skills.

Neighborhood Experiences, Specialized Teen ProgramDates: June 10-August 2, 2024 ~ Cost: $300. Neighborhood Experiences is an eight-week summer pre-employment training project that supports youth ages 13-20 with disabilities living in St. Louis City and St. Louis County. Participants explore job opportunities, practice workplace expectations through volunteering, and develop the hard & soft skills needed to be successful in the workforce. For information call Donny Conner at 314-817-2293.

TREEHouse Summer Horse Camp, Specialized Day Camp for ages 6 and older, 4 hours per day. Dates: June 3-7, June 17-21, 2024, July 8-12, July 22-26, 2024, Cost: $485 per week, Time: 9am-1pm daily. Join us for a small group camp opportunity for up to four individuals (ages six and up) each day for a full week. Campers will practice horsemanship and riding skills along with nature-oriented activities and crafts. Campers must be able to sit on a horse independently with only a leader and pose no flight risk.

TASK (Team Activities for Special Kids), Specialized Youth and Teen Day Camp, various camps for youth ages 5-14, teen camp for ages 15-19 and after hours camp for ages 19 and older. History’s Mysteries Camp at TASK, June 17-21 Ages 15 and older; June 24-28 for ages 5-14. TASK-CBC Camp: July 8-12 for ages 5 and older. TASK Camp St. Louis Style, July 15-19 for ages 5 and older. COST: $175 per week. TASK Night Out, July 22-26 from 3-6pm for ages 19 and older – $80. You must enroll in a TASK activity this spring before coming to summer camp.

Train Your Brain, Wash U OT Services,Specialized Youth Half Day Camp for youth who have poor attention, planning, and organization skills. Sessions for Youth in grades 3-5: June 24-28 ~ July 22-26 ~ July 29-Aug 2, 2024, Sessions for youth in grades 6-8: July 15-19 ~ July 22-26 ~ July 29-Aug 2, 2024. Offsite session for grades 3-5 on Aug 5-9, 2024 at YMCA in Washington, MO. Cost: $125 which includes project planning kit to take home.Children who just completed elementary school grades 3-5 or middle school grades 6-8 are eligible to register for this half-day, week-long summer camp. Project skills like planning, goal setting, organizing, and time management are directly taught and practiced with brain games and STEM projects.

Leaps and Bounds, Specialized Youth Day Camp and Therapy programs. Ages 3-14. Our therapeutic day camps for ages 5-12 are a great option for children who struggle in large, traditional camp programs. They are week-long learning enrichment programs that incorporate therapeutic activities to address your child’s needs and include lessons incorporating reading, science, and social studies. St. Louis Arc, Neighborhood Experiences, Specialized Teen Program, held at the Arc Building in St. Louis, MO.This summer program serves St. Louis County and City Residents, ages 13 to 20 who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to engage in volunteer and work experiences, achieve personal and career goals, expand their social network, and create a professional resume and portfolio. Camp Circle Star, Specialized Youth Day Camp in Hillsboro, MO. Weeks from June 10 – August 9, 2024. Cost: $400 per week plus optional $50 per week for transportation to camp from our Ballwin office. Our campers with autism need specialized camping experiences, so we provide 1:1 supervision for everyone. Community Youth Day Camps 2025:

These programs serve primarily children without disabilities. Services vary by location so talk with the camp about your child’s support needs to ensure they are able to accommodate. 

Vetta Sports,Traditional Youth Day Camp, for ages 5-12 at five locations in St. Louis/St. Charles, weekly from May 27-August 15, 2024. Registration for 2025 opens on January 15. Choose from soccer, racquetball, pickleball, and hockey camps. We integrate sports with traditional camp activities guaranteed to keep your child active. COCA, Creative Arts, University City, MO: Traditional Youth and Teen Day Camp for ages 3-18, Registration opens on Monday, January 27, 2025. Weeks from May 27-August 15, 2025 Over 200 topical camp weeks to pick from including singing, acting, art, dance, circus, clay, cooking, fashion, jewelry, lego, sewing, zombie acting, and more. College for Kids, St. Charles, Traditional Youth Day Camp with half day sessions for ages 5-14. Registration opens on Wednesday, January 22, 2025. Camps run from June 2 – August 8, 2025. Held at St. Charles Community College in June, July, and August, 2024. Learning and having fun go hand-in-hand this summer at St. Charles Community College’s College for All Kids (CFAK) camps. The College for All Kids summer camps are now enrolling for more than 150 academic enrichment and sports camps. Cost varies by camp selected. 

Laumeier Sculpture Garden Art Camps – St. Louis, MO: Traditional Youth and Teen Day Camp for youth ages through age 18. 2025 Registration begins on January 17, 2025. Cost varies by camp. Artscope Summer Camp, Traditional Day Camp for grades K-5 from June 3-August 16, 2024 and grades 6-8 from July 24-August 11, 2024. Missouri Disability Water Ski Association (MDWSA) 2025 information coming soon. Summer Splash happens the last weekend in July at Creve Coeur Park, 13725 Marine Ave, Maryland Heights, MO 63043. MDWSA was created to provide a safe, fun and extremely memorable water ski experience for individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, visual impairments, and special needs. Cast for Kids Fishing Program: Kemp Lake near Leasburg, MO 65535 (map), July 2025 date coming soon. This private nature game preserve destination for ALL. Cast for Kids Fishing Program is FREE for kids with varying disabilities and their families. Kids will be provided with fishing poles and tackle boxes.  Located 45 minutes from St. Louis near Leasburg, Missouri. Registration is required and must have a reservation to access the property. Wilderness Inquiry, Gateway to Outdoor Adventures for People with Disabilities: Wilderness Inquiry shares the outdoors with everyone, including persons with intellectual and physical disabilities. Designed for adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and other forms of cognitive disability, Gateway to Adventure (Gateway) is a program that helps people develop the skills they need to enjoy inclusive outdoor recreation activities. Trips cost $800-$1,000 depending on venue selected.

Road Scholar Trips (non specialized): These learning adventures engage expert instructors, provide extraordinary access, and stimulate discourse and friendship among people for whom learning is the journey of a lifetime. Cost ranges from $2,000-$9,000 depending on the trip location and amenities selected. These are non-specialized trips so travelers need to have adequate community safety skills or travel with a trusted travel partner.
