Summer Splash, Adapted Waterski Event (STL) Friday, July 26 & Saturday, July 27. MDWSA was created for the betterment of adaptive water skiing for those with physical and developmental disabilities, visual impairments, and special needs. We provide a safe, fun and extremely memorable water ski experience. Register soon since skiing slots are limited. Beep Baseball National Tournament (SCC), Spectators are welcome and admission is FREE! July 21-28 at Slyman Bros SLYSA Complex, 3901 Huster Road, St. Charles, MO 63301 (map). MindsEye’s BeepBall Program adds a spin on baseball that allows people of all visual abilities to compete. Players are guided by sound, not sight. The sound of the beeping ball, buzzing bases, and cues from the pitcher. All BeepBall athletes are blindfolded except for the sighted pitcher and outfield spotters. This makes the game a unique opportunity for people of all visual abilities to play together. Athletes from across the country come to St. Charles to play this amazing game. Bring your lawn chair since seats on the bleachers are limited. Information

PACK Dance Company Specialized Dance Class: This adaptive dance program offers universally accessible dance taught by occupational therapy students and trained adapted dance instructors. We are in the Central West End at 465 Taylor Avenue, 63108. This class is for children with disabilities, ages 4-18 and meets on Saturdays from 11:30-12:30 starting August 17. Pack Dance offers scholarships if the cost of the program is a barrier. Contact arica@packdance.org or call 314-546-1477 for information. Cost is $100-$160 for 6-12 week sessions.

ADA Celebrations in July

ADA Program at the MO History Museum (STL), Tuesday, July 23 from 10am-2pm at the MO History Museum, 5700 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63112. Thirty-four years after being signed into the law, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) continues to protect the rights of people with disabilities. Join us for a panel discussion, performances, and resource tables that reflect on the achievements and advancements made since ADA’s enactment, explore its profound impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities, and address ongoing challenges and areas for improvement in ensuring equal rights and accessibility. Performances by Recreation Council board member, Katie Banister, and talent show winner, Liam Williamson.  Free, but please register

Disability Rights and the “Breaking of Chains” (STL): Friday, July 26 at 10 am at Eden Seminary,   Each year Paraquad celebrates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990, with a special celebration. Join us at Eden Theological Seminary to celebrate the life of Rev. Harold Wilke, a disability rights advocate, and hear from guest speakers, Philip Dietch, Lori A. Becker, and DeMarco Davidson. Free Activities in St. Charles County…

What Makes Blue Jeans Blue, (SCC), Friday, July 26 from 10am-2pm at The Historic Daniel Boone Home. Learn about indigo, a natural dye used to color cloth for centuries. Visitors bring their own item made from 100% cotton to design and dye. Watch the magic of chemistry as the indigo turns from green to blue and learn about other dyes found in nature. Information or Register Here ~  Repeats on August 23.

Outdoor Music in St. Charles…

St. Charles Band & Jazz Concerts (SCC), Thursday, July 25 at 7:30pm at Frontier Park, 500 S. Riverside Drive 63301. Bring your lawn chair to enjoy our summer concert series along the beautiful Missouri riverfront. Event also repeats weekly in August. Information

O’Fallon Jammin’ Concerts (SCC), July 23, 30 from 6:30–9 p.m. at Civic Park (map). Join us for free concerts on Tuesday evenings this summer! Admission and parking are free. Food trucks and concessions will be available at nominal prices. Bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating, and enjoy the evening. Last concert is August 6.  Information

New Town Concert (SCC), Saturday, July 27 from 7-10pm with a tribute to First Responders and music by “Non-Stop Reggae.” The concerts are at the New Town Amphitheater, 3312 Rue Royale, St. Charles, MO 63301. More concerts in August and September. Information

Missouri State Parks Beach Chairs Available for Use:  Missouri State Parks strives to provide accessible outdoor recreation for all. Beach chairs can help visitors access designated swim areas that may not be suitable for traditional wheelchairs. Missouri State Parks currently has 18 beach chairs in place across the state.
