Adventures for Adults over age 18
The Recreation Council’s ADULT EXPERIENTIAL ADVENTURE VOUCHER provides partial funding to assist adults (ages 18 and older) with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to experience an adventures such as weekend trips, multi-day high adventure activities, and adult only day or overnight programs. Sunnyhill Adventures Travel – adult adventures for people with disabilities: SUNNYHILL ADVENTURES TRAVEL offers monthly weekend road trips to popular destinations, providing a fun social experience and promoting self-sufficiency through cultural exploration. Adults engage in personal growth, skill development, and community engagement with trip chaperones provided. This program is available to individuals within peer agencies and natural homes. Our weekend travel program provides adults with developmental disabilities the unique opportunity to experience more independence by taking roads trips with the support of our Sunnyhill Adventures staff. Chicago, Branson, Nashville, Louisville, Memphis, and Lake of the Ozarks are just some of the destinations we have explored. Information
ARC ESCAPES, ADVENTURES FOR ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES: A weekend getaway adventure program for adults ages 18 & older. Individual trips are planned throughout the year to give participants the opportunity to travel and explore various locations throughout the Midwest. There will be both pre-planned activities, such as ziplining, hiking, sporting events, and more. Information
YMCA Trout Lodge Weekend Adventure: Featuring incredible views of Mark Twain National Forest and sunrises over the water, Trout Lodge’s cabins and recently renovated Lodge guest rooms provide a home base as you explore dozens of activities, from the Alpine Tower, paintball course, and zip line to trail rides, archery and water sports. Plus each fun-filled day includes your cafeteria-style meals in the Lodge dining room with sweeping views of Sunnen Lake.

From our hotel-like Trout Lodge Sunnen Center, Lake View and Forest View Cabins, there is a place here for everyone.
Activities range from horseback riding to canoeing, swimming, climbing, archery, and arts & crafts. Three buffet-style meals are provided per day. Trout Lodge awaits as your perfect getaway or group event.

BIG MUDDY CANOE ADVENTURES ~ Whether this is your first time paddling or you’re a bonafide river rat, Big Muddy Adventures has a trip for you. We offer a wide range of options, from hour-long paddles to multi-day expeditions to private island dinners. Silver & Gold Senior Club, Over 2,500 members ages 60 and older, all dedicated to having fun. Sponsored by Baue Funeral Homes, Crematory and Memorial Gardens this highly successful group holds several well-attended events each year, with most events averaging more than 200 people. Our programs include themed luncheons, day trips and tours, educational talks, trips to local sports events, an annual senior health fair, and much more. Trips, Inc Travel Program for Adults with Disabilities: Trips, Inc.™ provides all-inclusive vacation packages for travelers 18 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities. From theme parks to national parks, Alaska to Hawaii, cruises and international destinations-our excursions take you all over the world. Trips originate in cities outside of Missouri.
Wilderness Inquiry, Gateway to Outdoor Adventures for People with Disabilities: Wilderness Inquiry shares the outdoors with everyone, including persons with intellectual and physical disabilities. Designed for adults with developmental disabilities, brain injuries, and other forms of cognitive disability, Gateway to Adventure (Gateway) is a program that helps people develop the skills they need to enjoy inclusive outdoor recreation activities. Cost varies depending on trip selected.
Road Scholar Trips (not specialized): These learning adventures engage expert instructors, provide extraordinary access, and stimulate discourse and friendship among people for whom learning is the journey of a lifetime. Cost varies depending on the trip location and amenities selected. These are non-specialized trips so travelers need to have adequate community safety skills or travel with a trusted travel partner.
